Hello Flow Fests people!
“Just fully being skillful involves total lack of inhibition. We are not afraid to be. We are not afraid to live. We must accept ourselves as being warriors. If we acknowledge ourselves as warriors, then there is a way in, because a warrior dares to be, like a tiger in the jungle. ”
― Chögyam Trungpa, The Myth of Freedom and the Way of Meditation
It seems like just yesterday we were playing in the park like big kids.
I haven’t really taken the time to say thank you to YOU yet. So this message is for you. You who put your trust into this… idea. Florida Flow Fest was an idea. Every subsequent Flow Fests event has been an outgrowth of the beauty of Florida Flow Fest, and a cultural export of the City of Lake Worth. The life YOU brought to Flow Fests this year made the idea real, and made it happen. Your practice and your skillful mastery have unlocked the door to flow in a new way for so many people, and I hope you also unlocked a few doors of your own in the process. I also hope you had an amazing time- I have heard from some of you, and I’d love to hear from more! I’m posting 2 survey links at the bottom of this page (from Florida Flow Fest): PLEASE complete the surveys!
“No matter what the practice or teaching, ego loves to wait in ambush to appropriate spirituality for its own survival and gain.”
― Chögyam Trungpa, Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism
^^ Yes, well, and then there’s that: nothing like a teacher to inspire humility. I am struggling in the last days of this month to reconcile the beauty that was this year’s Florida Flow Fest (so much about it, even to ME, in my mildly haphazard rigidity and obsessive attachment to the registration tent, was simply SWEET this year) with the accounting & budgetary shortfalls. I love to see the shining inner light of so many smiles- it helps me remember why I work so hard.
I am excited to link you to the Florida Flow Fest 2016 album on the Andrea Sarcos Photography page (https://www.facebook.com/andreasarcosphotography/photos/…), so YOU can remember with me (these photos will be in a media gallery on flowfests.com soon, and will also be on facebook.com/flowfests & facebook.com/floridaflowfest. PLEASE LIKE AND FOLLOW THESE PAGES!)
Also, for the night owls among you, Syrandipitous has a beautiful firey photo album up (https://www.facebook.com/syrandipitous/photos/…)… PLEASE CREDIT these artists of light and motion whenever reposting images. I’ve also attached to this email a photo of the performers from Sunday night.
“There are times to cultivate and create, when you nurture your world and give birth to new ideas and ventures. There are times of flourishing and abundance, when life feels in full bloom, energized and expanding. And there are times of fruition, when things come to an end. They have reached their climax and must be harvested before they begin to fade. And finally of course, there are times that are cold, and cutting and empty, times when the spring of new beginnings seems like a distant dream. Those rhythms in life are natural events. They weave into one another as day follows night, bringing, not messages of hope and fear, but messages of how things are.”
― Chögyam Trungpa
As winter settles in, and the nights grow longer, I’m questioning the future for Flow Fests. Am I really insane? Have we already hit our peak, our fruition?
I will be posting workshop passes later this week for all of next year’s Flow Fests events. AND I came to a powerful realization yesterday, thanks to the willingness of my good friend Brian to hold me high: I’ve already drained my savings creating 4 fests… let’s see what these 4 fests can do, locally and regionally before expanding out to new communities and tripling my work load. So for 2017, we are officially producing 4 fests: Texas Flow Fest, NorthWest Flow Fest, MidWest Flow Fest (in Chicago) and Florida Flow Fest.

I’ll also be posting another online crowdfundraiser for Flow Fests, to pay off our debts this year and get ready for next year. It is my commitment that Flow Fests Flourish, that all us Flow-Rich folk are also sustained and can thrive doing the work we do. I don’t think it’s impossible: I think a few major tweaks made strategically in the system and we can do this. TOGETHER, we can do much. Just look at what we did this year! #makeamericaplayagain
Please PLEASE share your content from Flow Fests. And please repost our workshop pass announcements and online fundraiser- AND CONSIDER MAKING A PURCHASE FROM OUR ONLINE STORE! FlowFests.com/Shop … the leggings will only be up until December 5, and t-shirts, crop tops and hoodies with the Make America Play Again graphic (and a less femme version, coming soon) will be up through the holidays.
Finally- I want to say a huge thank you to Brian Lester aka theartistblest. Many of you know him as the yoga and acro program coordinator for Florida Flow Fest 2015 & 2016. Brian also spent this year co-creating each Flow Fests event with me. Brian, you are truly magical and unique. Thank you for your eye and creativity, your passion for building community, and for your playful spirit. I love you and I am so grateful for all you’ve contributed to my OWN evolution this year, beyond your work with and on behalf of each of the Flow Fests. Please go take a look at his video work for Florida, Texas, Northwest & Mountain Flow Fests: flowfests.com/media
